Accident claims life of Manitoulin woman

A 47-year-old Burpee Mills Township woman is dead following a single-vehicle accident around 6:50 p.m. on Aug. 29.

The township, near Evansville, is located on Manitoulin Island.

The driver of the vehicle, Mary Lise Chapados, was taken to Manitoulin Health Centre in Mindemoya, where she died of her injuries.

She was the only person in the vehicle. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place Aug. 31 in Greater Sudbury.

The accident is currently being investigated by the Manitoulin detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, along with the OPP's technical traffic collision investigations unit.
