Toronto hikers rescued by police

Two Toronto men who became lost while hiking were rescued shortly before thunderstorms were scheduled to roll into the area.

The two men phoned Greater Sudbury Police around 7:20 p.m. on Sept. 2, after becoming lost hiking in High Falls area of Dowling and Onaping.

Police started a search before nightfall, and ground search crews covered about eight kilometres of rough terrain, a police press release stated.

The two men were found about 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 3.
