Five people are facing charges related to drunk driving after being stopped by Greater Sudbury Police this weekend.

On Dec. 3 at around 11:10 p.m., Greater Sudbury Police stopped a vehicle travelling southbound on MacKenzie Street.

After failing both a roadside test and tests at the police headquarters, the 37-year-old man driving the vehicle was charged with having over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. He was also charged with “numerous” provincial offences, as he didn't have any insurance, is a suspended driver and had licence plates attached to the vehicle that were not registered to it.

On Dec. 4 at around 12:10 a.m., Greater Sudbury Police observed a vehicle drive through a red light at the intersection of Brady and Paris Streets. The 51-year-old driver failed a roadside test. He was transported to police headquarters, where he refused to provide a breath sample.

The suspect has been charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample.

On Dec. 4 at around 12:15 a.m., Greater Sudbury Police received a call about a woman driving while impaired. The 44-year-old driver was located on Old Soo Road in Lively.

She has been charged with impaired driving, driving while under suspension and having more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

On Dec. 4 at around 2:30 a.m. a 25-year-old Sudbury man was charged with impaired driving and having more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood after he was pulled over on Errington Street in Chelmsford.

Greater Sudbury Police also responded to a call about an impaired driver at around 8:40 p.m. Dec. 4.

The suspect's vehicle was located, running, at the Subway restaurant on Notre Dame Avenue. When the suspect entered his vehicle, he was approached by officers.

The 39-year-old suspect failed a roadside test. He was then given the opportunity to give further breath samples, but refused. The suspect has been charged with refusing to provide a breath sample.

  • What's up with not posting the names of the people charged under the DUI act?
    Are we worried that it may embarrass them to a point that they'd leave town,ad further stress onto their families or possibly affect their careers/jobs?

  • No hope for these idiots,,will never learn and some people will stick up for them when they finally kill someone,,case in point,,the valley incident last year..Every one knows about the dangers of drinking and driving and a couple of drinks and they think like the criminals they are...........

  • I bet those refusing to give a breath sample also have no insurance,no licence and no remourse if they kill someone. Maybe those jerks could take a tour of the morgue with accident vctims lying on steel slabs.
