A man driving a red truck reportedly drove into the vehicle in front of him while waiting in line at the McDonald's drive-through on Newgate Avenue, according to Greater Sudbury Police Services.

When police arrived around 1 a.m. on March 20, the man was in his truck, in the parking lot. He was arrested for impaired driving. Upon arriving at police headquarters, he was found to have twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

The 20-year-old was held for a bail hearing.

  • cyber ... sorry ... I didn't mean to come across as snarky. I too am fed up with reading about drunk drivers every day. I don't know what the answer is. It's almost getting too dangerous to drive in this city.

  • Every time a convenience store or drug store is robbed some people expect to see a police presence on every street corner of Sudbury. While visiting Barrie saw a cop with a shot gun standing outside an LCBO near Georgian College. Thought I was in Mexico.Only way to curb drunk drivers is with more severe penalties rather than listening to Liberal hearted judges and lawyers. They are the main root of the problem. When there are no consequences things won't stop.

  • give your head a shake harry, how can you argue that an increased police presence is'nt going to deter drunk driving. How else do you keep them off the road if your not out looking. an increased police presence would increase the odds of these drivers being seen on the road and stopped before the accident in the drive through..

  • cyber ... are you willing to have blockades and spot-checks on every street in this city to "prevent " drunk driving?

You want that? ... move to Russia. More cops is not going to reduce the number of drunks on the highway. How could it?

  • One other thing, Marrianne Matychuck, if you really did save us 12 m on the snow removal budget then it seems that money could be put towards at least a few more officers on the street. Are you really in it for the benefit of the city or are you just in it for your own agenda?

  • Another example of whats wrong with this city. We have a larger city now and more population than ever before, but, yet we still dont have any additional police. Lets stop all the whining about where to spend money, Ice pads, new arts centers and maybe put a little of that money into policing and maybe we'ld have a safer city to live in and enjoy all those little extras we (need?) want.

  • Maybe we should post a sign at the entrance to the city. "Beware, drunk drivers will be found everywhere within city limits.Drive with caution as the justice system will not be responsible if you are injured."
