A 49-year-old man, who had been prohibited from driving, was caught behind the wheel impaired June 29.

Around 2:47 a.m., members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service spotted a red Chrysler Intrepid travelling at a high rate of speed on Scarlet Street. After pulling into a driveway, the driver exited the vehicle and began stumbling backwards.

Officers could detect a strong odour of alcohol, slurred speech and arrested the man for impaired driving. Further investigation revealed that the accused was a prohibited driver and on probation.

The Sudbury man has been charged with impaired driving, blowing over the legal limit, Criminal Code drive while disqualified, breach of probation and driving under suspension under the Highway Traffic Act. His drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

Greater Sudbury Police now release the names of impaired drivers. For more information, go to www.gsps.ca.
