Greater Sudbury Police were called to the Rainbow Centre in downtown Sudbury July 7 after a handgun was reportedly spotted in the mall around 11 a.m.

According to a press release, a man and woman with a stroller were seen in the area of the food court. Police were told the man “originally had a gun in his pocket, then transferred it to the baby stroller.”

The couple was located and secured by police. Officers searched the stroller and found an “imitation 38-calibre handgun.”

Both individuals were released at the scene unconditionally.

Police want to remind the public that all calls about firearms are taken seriously and “toy or replica guns ... cannot lawfully be used in a dangerous manner.”
