The OPP managed to stop a driver on The Kingsway Sept. 27 after officers were led on a chase down Highway 17 and into Greater Sudbury.

Greater Sudbury Police assisted the OPP during the incident.

The OPP started to pursue a vehicle “being driven erratically” on the highway, near Hagar, at around 11:30 p.m.

A spike belt was deployed to stop the vehicle. Even though the vehicle's tires were deflated, the vehicle continued on its rims, reaching The Kingsway.

OPP officers used a “rolling block” to stop the vehicle.

A rolling block is a technique where three cruisers surround a vehicle, making sure there's no room for it to escape, and slow down, forcing it to the side of the road.

Two OPP cruisers were damaged as a result of the maneuver.

The suspect resisted arrest, and a conducted energy weapon, also known as a Taser, was used to take him into custody.

A 38-year-old Brantford, Ont. man is facing a number of charges. He was not injured in the collision. However, he was taken to hospital for an unrelated medical condition.
