The vehicle, which had four occupants, was headed eastbound on municipal road 8, close to Slalom Street, when the accident occurred.
The vehicle came to rest in the ditch on the east side of the road.
One of the passengers was ejected form the vehicle, and suffered serious injuries.
Both the passenger and the driver were taken to Sudbury Regional Hospital for treatment.
The driver was treated and released, but the passenger remains in hospital. The two other occupants suffered only minor injuries, and did not require medical treatment.
He has been charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
The driver, who only has his G1 novice driver's licence, also allegedly breached several driver's licence conditions, including not having a qualified driver with him, driving with a blood alcohol level over .05, and driving at an “unlawful hour.”
He also allegedly wasn't wearing a seatbelt and didn't have insurance for the vehicle.
The suspect is due to appear in bail court Oct. 5.
