Injured man assaults paramedics, resists arrest

Greater Sudbury Police Service has charged a man for assault and resisting arrest after he attacked two paramedics while en route to the hospital.

Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to a call at about 2 a.m. on Dec. 27 at Cousin Vinny’s parking lot in Hanmer to asssist an injured male party.

While en route to hospital, the man assaulted the treating paramedic. The ambulance was stopped following the assault, and the man calmed down and was resecured on the stretcher, according to a press release.

The male attacked the second ambulance attendant upon arrival at the hospital.

Police in attendance at the hospital attempted to arrest him, but he resisted.

He was eventually subdued and taken into custody.

As a result, the man was charged with two counts of assault and resisting arrest.
