There were no impaired driving charges laid by Greater Sudbury Police Service after conducting a RIDE program Jan. 28-29.

One three-day suspension was issued and 11 tickets were issued for Highway Traffic Act offences. Eight screening tests were administered.

A total of 636 vehicles were checked.

Police set up their spotchecks on Falconbridge Highway, Regent Street at Bouchard Street and Caswell Drive and Brady Street at Cedar Street.

The ongoing RIDE program is aimed at reducing property damage, injuries and death caused by impaired driving. RIDE checks are intended to target high-incident and high-complaint areas.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service, Action Sudbury and STRIDE (Sudbury Taskforce to Remove Impaired Drivers Everywhere) encourage residents to participate in Operation Lookout, a Canada-wide, year-round public awareness program that encourages the public and/or businesses to call 911 if they suspect an impaired driver.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 674-7511 or Crime Stoppers at 222-TIPS, online at www.sudburycrimestoppers.com or by texting TIPSUD and the information to CRIMES (274637).
