Greater Sudbury Police were called to McNeil Boulevard at about 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 29 for a report of a motor vehicle that had struck a snow bank.

Upon investigation, officers found that a 16-year-old male youth had taken the vehicle without consent from a relative. The teen cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Officers also learned that the teen was on bail with a curfew to be in his residence between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. The teen was also investigated for impaired driving, but was found to have only a minimal amount of alcohol in his system.

The youth was scheduled for bail court on Jan. 30 to face criminal code charges of taking a motor vehicle without consent and breach of recognizance, as well as driving a motor vehicle without a license, and consuming alcohol while under 19 years of age under the Liquor License Act.
