Snowmobiler suffers head injury

A 23-year-old man suffered a head injury after after losing control of his snowmobile on Whitewater Lake in Azilda on Jan. 31.

Greater Sudbury Police responded to the call at about 9:10 p.m. EMS was also dispatched to the single motorized snowmobile collision. Preliminary reports indicated the man lost control of his machine at a high rate of speed. The head injury has been listed as non-life-threatening.

The snowmobiler was unconscious at the time the accident was called in. EMS responded on an ARGO to treat the victim.

The traffic management unit is investigating the matter.

@ yakk: Does this man ride this same route carelessly, without license, and without insurance nearly every day or night?

Would like to clarify the facts in this story. The man DID NOT loose control of his snowmachine due to high speeds. They were 2 riders who ride nearly everyday or night this same route but his time one hit a rock that was covered with a drift of snow. It was simply a very unfortunate accident. The rider flew over the snowmobile and the snowmobile hit him in the head.
