A 38-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving, but perhaps the most disturbing fact is he had his eight-year-old daughter in the vehicle with him while he was clocked doing 128 km/h in an 80-km/h zone, according to Greater Sudbury Police Service.
Police observed a silver Dodge Neon travelling southbound on Municipal Road 35 on April 15 at about 4:27 p.m. in the area of Lasalle Boulevard.
A traffic stop was conducted, where the man was found to be operating the motor vehicle with his daughter as a passenger. An open container of beer was noted between the two front seats.
The officer demanded a breath sample, which the driver failed. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters for further breath tests that showed he was 1.5 times the legal limit of 80 mg.
A family member was contacted and attended police headquarters to take custody of the child.
The driver was later released from custody with a pending court date to answer to charges of impaired operation, over 80 mg and speeding.
