Officers of the Ontario Provincial Police East Algoma detachment stopped the suspect's vehicle in Blind River for a Highway Traffic Act infraction, according to an OPP press release. After speaking with the officer, and while the officer was in the cruiser, she unlawfully left the scene.
A pursuit ensued, with speeds reaching 80-83 km/h. The vehicle was observed crossing the centre line and narrowly missing the oncoming traffic, according to police.
The pursuit ended in the Town of Iron Bridge, where OPP officers deployed a spike belt resulting in the vehicle stopping safely.
