Eric Cardinal was arrested on April 28 in Hamilton and was returned to Sudbury April 29.

Original story

The Greater Sudbury Police Service has an outstanding warrant for the arrest of Eric Cardinal for his alleged involvement in a high-speed chase with police.

A vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed on Bruce Street on April 5 at about 7:30 p.m. Officers attempted to stop the Dodge vehicle, but the driver failed to co-operate and continued in an aggressive manner, police allege.

At one point, two pedestrians had to jump out of the way of the speeding vehicle and a fence was also damaged.

The pursuit was called off due to safety concerns to pedestrians and other traffic. The car was located a short time later, with no one in it. An investigation resulted in police arresting a female who is alleged to have been the passenger in the car at the time.

Cardinal is charged with:
- Possession of stolen property
- Dangerous driving
- Flight from police
- Uttering threats to cause death
- Theft of a motor vehicle

Anyone with information about Cardinal's whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-TIPS or locally at 705-222-TIPS (8477). You must call this number to be eligible for a cash reward. Tips can also be submitted online at sudburycrimestoppers.com or by texting “TIPSUD” and the information to “Crimes” (274637).
