A Val Caron man visiting Timmins found himself up the creek without a paddle when he accidentally partially submerged his father's minivan into a lake, according to the South Porcupine detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police.

The incident happened May 6 at Porcupine Lake in South Porcupine. The driver stated that he had parked on the boat launch to show his girlfriend and mother a view of the lake, according to OPP. He stated the wheels were in the water when they parked, and when attempting to reverse, the wheels spun and the vehicle rolled down, entering the lake.

Passengers were the driver's girlfriend from Sudbury and his mother from South Porcupine.

There were no injuries, no charges and police detected no alcohol during the investigation.
