Azilda man's body found mere blocks from his home

Police have confirmed that missing Azilda man James Lewandoski's body was discovered mere blocks from his Ellen Street home.

In a media release, Greater Sudbury Police said the man was found deceased May 23 at around 11:00 a.m. Members of the Criminal Investigations Division are continuing the investigation and a post-mortem will be conducted today. Foul play is not suspected.

The five-day search for Lewandoski included an Ontario Provincial Police helicopter and boat, volunteers from North Shore Search and Rescue, who devoted hundreds of hours during this time, and assistance from the public and the media.

Greater Sudbury Police's own Criminal Investigations Division, Uniform Division, Search and Rescue Unit, Rural Unit, Marine Unit and Canine Unit were also involved in the search.
