A man and a teenage boy are facing arson charges after they allegedly set fire to Sudbury Secondary School at around 8:15 p.m. May 25.

The pair, who attempted to flee, were stopped by a couple driving in the area who had observed them spray painting the school and setting the fire.

An area resident, who also saw the fire being started, managed to put the fire out. Damage to the school was minimal because of the resident's actions.

The man was charged with arson, mischief and breach of probation. The teenage boy was charged with arson, mischief and obstructing police for providing them with false information.

The suspects are being held in police custody pending a bail hearing.
