A 22-year-old Chelmsford man is facing multiple charges after fleeing Greater Sudbury Police on Notre Dame Avenue May 26.

At around 2 p.m., an officer attempted to stop the man's vehicle for a minor traffic offence. Although the vehicle initially slowed, it then sped up to 116 km/hr, weaving in and out of traffic. The posted speed limit on Notre Dame is 50 km/hr.

Through an investigation, the driver was located in Azilda, and charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, two counts of driving while suspended, operating a motor vehicle with no insurance and three highway traffic act offences.

The suspect is being held in police custody pending a bail hearing.
