A couple has been charged with theft and fraud after stealing a diamond ring valued at $30,000.

On June 1, members of the Break, Enter and Robbery (B.E.A.R.) Unit and the Uniform Division commenced an investigation into the theft of a diamond ring from a local residence. The investigation revealed that an employee from a local telecommunications company had taken the ring while performing work at the home.

Police located the ring at a local pawn shop and it was returned to the owner. It was discovered that the employee’s female companion had pawned the item.

The 32-year-old male and 30-year-old female are facing a number of charges including theft exceeding $5,000, possession of stolen property exceeding $5,000 and fraud exceeding $5,000. They are scheduled to appear in court on July 11.
