Several people have been sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle crash on Notre Dame Avenue, according to Greater Sudbury Police Service.

That's all the information that is currently known, a police spokesperson said. The collision is under investigation.

According to witnesses, the crash happened around 3 p.m. at the intersection of Notre Dame and Leslie Street. The collision involved a black Chevrolet Cavalier and a tan-coloured Chevrolet Impala.

As a result of the collision, the Impala flipped over and came to rest in the parking lot of the Prestige Apartments, while the Cavalier crashed into the the traffic-light pole.

Residents in the area said the intersection is known for being dangerous, and too many vehicles run red lights. As pedestrians, they are always on the lookout for dangerous situations.

A handicap parking permit could be seen in lying inside the Impala, while a wheelchair was removed from the Cavalier.
