One dead after early-morning Chelmsford collision

8:49 a.m. on June 25

The collision occurred one kilometre north of Golf Course Road on Montpellier Road in Chelmsford.

A gray Chevrolet pickup truck was travelling north on Montpellier Road when it failed to negotiate a sharp turn. The vehicle left the road and ended up in the ditch.

The vehicle then was totally destroyed by fire.

The identification of the driver isn't being released yet, pending a post-mortem examintation to be conducted today.

Police are looking to speak to the occupants of a vehicle that had stopped at the scene while the vehicle was still engulfed by fire, but left prior to police and fire personnel arriving on the scene.

Greater Sudbury Police Service traffic management unit is still investigating the collision.

Police are asking anyone with information about this collision to contact the traffic management unit at 705-675-9171 ext. 2412 or 2417.

One person died after a collision involving one vehicle on Montpellier Road in Chelmsford at around 4:30 a.m. June 24.

The vehicle caught on fire after the collision.

Hydro and fire services helped to render the scene safe for investigation. As of 8:40 a.m., members of Greater Sudbury Police's traffic management unit, forensic unit and uniform patrol units were on the scene of the accident, attempting to find out how the collision occurred.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
