A 65-year-old man was arrested June 28 after misrepresenting his identity to a financial institution where he attempted to open a bank account, according to Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Further investigation revealed that he had attempted the same offence at a separate financial institution and had also misrepresented his identity at a local motel.

Howard Freeman is currently being held in custody for offences including identity theft, fraud and forgery. He does not reside in the City of Greater Sudbury. So far, the police have determined that Freeman misrepresented himself with two separate sets of identification.

Greater Sudbury Police Service is seeking assistance in determining where Freeman may have stayed prior to his apprehension, what mode of transportation he may be using and whether he has had any dealings with other businesses/financial institutions in the City of Greater Sudbury area.
