Officer were conducting the checks July 14 in the Beatty Street and Dufferin Street area of Greater Sudbury. When the driver was stopped, officers noted signs of impairment, according to a press release. He was arrested and searched, and found to be in possession of a controlled substance. It was also determined he was a suspended driver.
Breath tests revealed he was about 2.5 times over the legal limit.
Another 21-year-old man faces impaired and possession charges after police found him passed out behind the steering wheel of his vehicle on July 15 at about 3:35 a.m., which happened to be stopped at an intersection.
Officers attending the location noted an odour of alcohol on the breath of the driver. He was arrested, and further investigation revealed he was in possession of a controlled substance and had open liquor in his vehicle.
Breath tests revealed he was over the legal limit. He was charged with several impaired offences, possession and having an open container of liquor.
Both drivers have been issued a 90-day licence suspension and had their vehicles impounded for seven days.
