The missing 11-year-old Val Caron boy police have been searching for since early this morning has been located safely.

At approximately 7 a.m. this morning, the boy left his home on Hwy 69 North in Val Caron without advising his parents of where he was going. This is unusual for him as he has never done this before, police reported.

Staff Sgt Jordan Buchanan explained that one parent checked in on the boy before leaving for work, and he was asleep in his bed. When the second parent got up, the boy was no longer in the house.

“Normally, this wouldn't have rung any bells, but he's never done this before,” Buchanan said.

He added that the boy spends a lot of time at home, so for him to leave the house so early and without warning was out of character, hence the parents' concern. When calls to his friends proved fruitless, the police were contacted.

No details of how or where he was located could be provided at this time.

Buchanan said the Greater Sudbury Police Service appreciates the public's assistance in this matter. Several area residents went out to search for the boy after hearing the news.
