Greater Sudbury Police caught several people for various infractions during spot checks July 27, including two people who had their driver’s license suspended as a result.

As part of its ongoing RIDE Program, police stopped 87 drivers in three locations in Capreol, charging one motorist with impaired driving and suspending the license of another for three days.

Police also laid seven Highway Traffic Act charges for such offences as not wearing a seatbelt.

The RIDE program is aimed at reducing property damage, injuries and death caused by impaired driving by targeting roadside screenings in high-incident or high-complaint areas.

The checks were set up at West Bay Road, Capreol Lake Road and Municipal Road 84 at Hanna Avenue, all in Capreol.
