Thirty-three boaters were charged last month with marine safety issues, according to Greater Sudbury Police Service.
Officer with the marine unit stopped 296 vessels on local waterways, and issued 57 bylaw tickets for various offences including unauthorized use of city property and obstructing launch locations with vehicles.
On land, police handed out 40 tickets to drivers who failed to stop at a red light.
During the month of July, traffic management unit and marine and uniformed officers concentrated their efforts on marine safety and red light offences as part of a program started Jan. 1 intended to address traffic-related issues within the City of Greater Sudbury.
The intention of this program is to enhance the safety of area roadways and to promote public awareness of proper driving, vehicle operation behaviours and roadway use.
