A 21-year-old man who was under a court order to "be of good behaviour," was at the centre of a lot of trouble early Saturday morning.

Shortly before 6 a.m. Aug. 25, officers responded to a disturbance on Arnold Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that the accused had assaulted another 20-year-old man, then intentionally drove a vehicle at several other individuals. A 19-year-old man suffered minor injuries to his foot as a result.

During the incident, the vehicle also struck a retaining wall of an adjacent property. The man then fled the scene in his vehicle but was located by police a short distance away. The driver initially resisted arrest but was quickly brought under control and taken to police headquarters.

Officers had grounds to believe the man was impaired by alcohol and requested that he provide breath samples, which he refused. Officers also learned that the man was on a recognizance to keep the peace with a specific condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

He will be held for a bail hearing on Aug. 26. He is charged with assault, assault with a weapon, dangerous driving, fail to remain, impaired driving, refuse to provide breath sample, and breach of recognizance to keep the peace.
