Police seize $1.2M worth of marijuana

Two men from Sarnia face drug charges after the Ontario Provincial Police seized 131 pounds of marijuana from their vehicle Aug. 25 in Massey, said the OPP in a news release.

The drugs have an estimated value of close to $1.2 million. The vehicle was stopped by the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Sudbury Drug Enforcement Unit and the Sarnia Police Service.

An investigation revealed the two men were returning to Sarnia from British Columbia with a large quantity of the drug. In addition to the 131 pounds of marijuana, police also seized $12,636 in cash.

The first man, 44 years of age, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

The second man, 42 years of age, is also charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
