Cyclist suffers head injury in collision

Police have reopened the highway. The adult female cyclist remains at Health Sciences North with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A female cyclist suffered serious head injuries when she collided with a vehicle at the intersection of Municipal Road 80 and Elmview Drive in Hanmer, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The collision happened at about 10 a.m. on Aug. 29.

The investigation is ongoing and, as a result, Elmview Drive at the intersection of Municipal Road 80 is closed to traffic. Traffic on Municipal Road 80 is reduced to three lanes in that area.

It is anticipated that the intersection will remain under investigation until at least 3 p.m.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call police.
