'Suspicious vehicle' incident was a prank: Police

The Aug. 27 incident where a suspicious vehicle attempted to have several girls approach it in the Hanmer area was a prank perpetrated by a young person, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

With the public's assistance, police were able to locate the the vehicle and driver on Aug. 30. Police said they have "cautioned" the youth regarding his poor choice of prank.

The public is reminded that depending on the circumstances, impersonating a police officer is a criminal offence.
