Blake Lapierre, 18, charged with first-degree murder

Blake Lapierre, 18, has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of a 22-year-old man at a pit party Aug. 30.

Lapierre faces additional charges of aggravated assault, weapons dangerous and assault with a weapon in relation to an attack on a second victim at the same location.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division would like to speak with anyone who has information about this matter, but who has yet been contacted by the police. Call 705-675-9171, ext. 2300.

In honouring a request from the family, police aren't officially releasing the name of the man killed in the incident; however, postings to Northern Life's Facebook page, as well as an email to the newspaper, identified the young man as Justin Dagenais.

The investigation continues and the scene has yet to be released.
