A 44-year-old Copper Cliff man has been charged with possession of a controlled substance after being stopped by police for travelling east in the westbound lanes on Highway 17 near Lively on Sept. 3.

While on patrol, an Ontario Provincial Police officers noticed the vehicle at about 8:30 a.m. After stopping the vehicle and speaking with its driver, a quantity of marijuana was surrendered.

The driver was arrested and, in addition to his possession charge, he also faces several traffic-related charges including driving with no insurance and operating an unsafe vehicle.
