The 18-year-old charged in the stabbing death at a Garson pit party last month has been granted bail.

Blake Lapierre was charged with first-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Justin Dagenais Aug. 30. Lapierre faces additional charges of aggravated assault, weapons dangerous and assault with a weapon in relation to an attack on a second victim at the same location.

Lapierre was released on bail with his parents and grandmother as sureties, all of whom live in the Lapierres' Garson home. The sureties have committed $50,000 in total.

In addition, Lapierre has been ordered to stay in the Greater Sudbury area, be in the home between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., not to leave the home outside that curfew unless in the presence of one of his sureties, have no communication with witnesses in the case, not to consume alcohol or drugs, and not possess weapons, including knives.

Lapierre's lawyer, Robert Beckett, appeared for him in court Sept. 12. His next court appearance is set for Oct. 10.
