Lively teen faces charge after pedestrian's death

An 18-year-old Lively man has been charged with careless driving after striking and killing a 20-year-old woman on Highway 17 on the Labour Day weekend.

On Aug. 31, 20-year-old Saoirse Sankey of Vancouver, B.C. had been walking on the north shoulder of the highway, near Coniston, when she was struck by a westbound pickup truck driven by the teen. She died of her injuries.

The suspect is due to appear in court Nov. 26 to answer to the charge.
