Greater Sudbury Police Service is will concentrate its efforts on school bus and school crossing guard offences this month as part of a program to address traffic-related issues within the City of Greater Sudbury.

Officers of the traffic management unit and uniformed officers will be conducting enforcement activities throughout the City of Greater Sudbury.

Last month, officers took aim at equipment and vehicle safety issues. As a result of the enforcement activities, a total of 111 charges were laid including:

-19 charges related to commercial vehicles
-5 improper lights (blue and or flashing blue lights to front of vehicles)
-22 for improper tail light covers
-2 improper lights to rear of trailers
-23 improper exhaust systems

The monthly roadway safety initiatives have been identified through public complaints, operator errors that were identified through the use of collision investigation data and the use of intelligence driven policing.
