At around 5:50 p.m., Traffic Management Unit officers with the Greater Sudbury Police Service engaged in ATV enforcement activities attempted to stop an orange, racing-style ATV on Montée Principale in Azilda.
The male driver was directed to pull over, but according to GSPS he instead accelerated to a high rate of speed, weaving “recklessly” in and out of traffic in an attempt to get away.
Once the speeding machine reached the dead end on St. Agnes Street, he drove off the roadway onto a trail and vanished into the bush, GSPS reported.
The driver of the ATV is described as wearing a grey sweater and white helmet.
Anyone with information in regards to the driver or ATV is asked to call police at 705-675-9171 ext. 2411 or 2413, or Crimestoppers.
