Manitoulin Island Ontario Provincial Police are investigating human remains found near Gore Bay.

A man hunting on private property near Wosley Bay in Gordon Townships west of Gore Bay found human skeletal remains Sept. 20 at about 12:11 p.m. Officers attended the scene and have secured the area where the remains were found.

The local coroner has been called to attend the scene, while the forensic identification unit has been called to assist in the investigation.

There is no foul play suspected, said the OPP. There is no concern for public safety with this investigation. The investigation is being conducted by Manitoulin OPP officers and detectives from the OPP Northeast Regional Crime Unit.
