Greater Sudbury Police are investigating two suspicious fires that happened in the early morning hours of Sept. 29.

A fire was reported at Liquidation Warehouse at 101 Elm St. at around 12:30 a.m.

When police and firefighters arrived, an exterior wall and part of the roof were burning. No one was injured in the blaze. Greater Sudbury Fire Services estimate damages at $50,000.

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been contacted to investigate the fire. Greater Sudbury Police criminal investigators and forensics are also assisting with the investigation.

At around 1:10 a.m., a second fire was reported in Victory Park, at the intersection of Frood Road and Shevchenko Avenue in the Donovan area.

Someone lit a large plastic container on fire, according to Greater Sudbury Police. A basketball net underneath the container was also damaged.

The fire was extinguished by Greater Sudbury Fire Services, and no one was injured.

Greater Sudbury Police are asking for the public's assistance in finding those responsible for these two fires.
