A 32-year-old man of no fixed address was caught with the laptop he allegedly stole after breaking into a home on John Street Oct. 2, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The suspect first tried to break into a home on Tarneaud Street around 10:20 a.m., allege police; however, the home's alarm sounded and scared him off. He was seen leaving the area by a nearby resident.

He then allegedly broke into the John Street home and stole the laptop, said police.

Police found him walking along Elgin Street with the computer at 11:35 a.m. He resisted arrest.

At the time of these offences, the suspect was on two probation orders. He was previously released from custody and is awaiting disposition for charges. He breached conditions of his probation along with the conditions of his interim release.

He now faces charges of break and enter with intent, break enter and theft, four counts of breach of probation, two counts of breach of undertaking along with one count of resisting a peace officer.
