A 19-year-old woman assaulted two officers and damaged a police cruiser Oct. 4 after ditching her vehicle, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Officers responded to a call at about 1 a.m. where a vehicle cut across two lanes of traffic and ended up in the ditch on Highway 69 near Tracks and Wheels, according to a news release.

The suspect was the driver of the vehicle. Upon inspection, officers located a partially consumed bottle of liquor on the ground just outside the vehicle.

When officers demanded breath samples from the woman, she refused. She was arrested and then she allegedly assaulted both officers and damaged the cruiser en route to police headquarters.

She is charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, failing to provide breath samples and mischief under $5,000.
