The body of Martin Nashkawa of Sagamok First Nation was recovered by OPP officers on the north shore of Lake Huron, adjacent to the Sagamok First Nation.

On Oct. 5, Nashkawa and another boater were on the water when poor weather arrived. The choppy water saw both boaters thrown into the water. The other boater was able to swim to shore and report the incident, when the search for Nashkawa began immediately.

On Oct. 6, the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit found him, deceased.

No foul play is suspected in the incident.

The investigation continues in conjunction with the coroners office, according to the Espanola Attachment of the OPP.

The OPP reminds boaters and anyone on the water that they need to wear approved flotation devices while boating.
