A 70-year-old Sheguiandah man faces sexual assault charges after complaints were filed by a 19-year-old woman to the Ontario Provincial Police.

The woman alleges that she was assaulted by the suspect when she took a cab he was driving. During the investigation, a 24-year-old woman came forward with a similar allegation of sexual assault by the same man.

The suspect no longer works for the taxi company with which he was employed when the alleged sexual assaults took place, according to police.

He was arrested and subsequently released on a promise to appear on an undertaking with conditions and will be appearing in Gore Bay Criminal Court on Oct. 29.

Police are asking the public for assistance if they have any information about this individual to contact police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
