Two drivers were charged with impaired during an Oct. 19 RIDE check by Greater Sudbury Police Service, according to a news release.

Police checked a total of 243 drivers and issued eight breath tests. Officers set up spot checks on Frood Road at Burton Street, Ste. Annes Road at Elgin Street and Elgin Street at Cedar Street.

Officers also issued five speeding tickets, five equipment violations, one seatbelt tickets and found a G1 driver without an accompanying driver.

The RIDE program focused its activities primarily in the downtown area after numerous complaints and reports of drunken behaviours were received over the past few weeks on weekends, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.
