Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are offering a guaranteed $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the persons responsible for stealing two school buses in the Capreol/Hanmer area.

On Oct. 14, at about 3 a.m., a school bus was stolen from a lot in Capreol. It was driven to the Hanmer area and then set on fire. Then, on Oct. 21, at about 4:30 a.m., another school bus was stolen from the same lot — it was also driven to the Hanmer area where it was involved in a collision with two vehicles and it also struck a building.

It was left at the collision site and the suspects ran off.

In both cases, additional damage was caused to other buses on the property — total damage to the buses is approximately $80,000.

Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers is convinced someone has information on this collision. The guaranteed $1,000 reward is offered for tips received before midnight on Oct. 29 if the information leads to an arrest.

The standard process for determining reward amounts will apply for tips received after the deadline.

Anyone with information on the hit and run or with any information about other criminal activity, and who want to remain anonymous, can call Crime Stoppers at 705-222-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit an online tip on our secure website www.sudburycrimestoppers.com.

You can also now text your tip by texting TIPSUD followed by your information to CRIMES (274637).
