Five people were arrested Oct. 24 and charged with a number of drug-related offences after police searched a home in Espanola and found $4,480 worth of drugs, according to a news release from the Ontario Provincial Police.

Police found 224 grams of marijuana, scales, a debt list and packaging material.

Two of the suspects, ages 17 and 15, were charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

A 52-year-old man, a 45-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man have all been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance. The 18-year-old suspect has also been charged with breach of probation and failing to comply with youth sentencing.

All five suspects are residents of Espanola.

The search warrant was executed by members of the OPP organized crime enforcement bureau, Sudbury drug enforcement unit in partnership with the Espanola Police Service, Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service, United Chiefs and Council of Manitoulin Anishnaabe Police Service, as well as the Manitoulin Island detachment of the OPP.
