Greater Sudbury Police responded to a stabbing in the parking lot of the Ambassador Hotel around 2:25 a.m. Oct. 27. A fight between two men led to one being stabbed three times in the torso. The victim was transported to Health Sciences North where he underwent surgery for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was pointed out to police by witnesses. When officers went to arrest him, he was still holding the knife. After refusing to drop it, he was taken into police custody. He was subsequently arrested and searched, and officers found what is believed to be cocaine in his pockets.

The 22-year-old was charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, aggravated assault, intent to resist arrest and possession of cocaine.
