Highway 144 was reopened at about 11:30 a.m., according to the Ontario Provincial Police.

Original story

A two-vehicle crash on Highway 144 about 500 metres south of Highway 661 has closed the road, and it is expected the road will remain closed for the next few hours, said the Gogama Ontario Provincial Police in a news release.

Police are in the midst of completing the investigation. The crash happened at about 4:15 a.m.

Significant debris remained on the road as f 8:47 a.m. The collision involved a snow plow and a tractor trailer unit.

The driver of the tractor trailer sustained non-life threatening injuries requiring medical attention at Timmins and District Hospital.

The Ministry of the Environment has been notified due to the fact that one of the diesel tanks on one of the vehicles involved has been compromised and is leaking fuel into the ditch off of Highway 144.

A detour is available to light passenger vehicles.

South-bound traffic on Highway 144 should use Highway 661 into the hamlet of Gogama and then use the Old Gogama Road to reacquire Highway 144 to continue south bound.

The opposite route is to be used for north-bound traffic.

There is no detour available for larger vehicles or commercial tractor trailers.
