A 25-year-old man allegedly drove his pickup truck into a house at the intersection of Bancroft Drive and MacKinnon Street when driving while impaired, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Officers responded to the call Oct. 29 just after 5 p.m. The driver fled the scene on foot, but was found by police at a nearby residence.

He was arrested for impaired driving and taken to police headquarters for breath samples, which showed he was more than twice the legal limit.

The house was significantly damaged and Sudbury Fire Services, as well as Greater Sudbury Utilities, attended the scene to assist in extricating the vehicle. Natural gas and electrical services was shut off to prevent any accidental explosion.

Although the home was occupied at the time of the crash, no one was injured.
