Thieves targeting vehicles in Powassan

Thieves are prowling the streets of Powassan and breaking into unlocked vehicles, ransacking them in search of anything they can steal, said the Ontario Provincial Police.

The Powassan detachment is investigating a number of thefts that have occurred within the past three weeks. There are also reports of fuel being syphoned from vehicles.

The OPP us reminding all residents to ensure that all vehicles, homes and outbuildings are kept locked and secure at all times. Keep an eye out for anyone roaming the area that does not appear to belong and call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Anyone who might suspect a theft is occurring, do not attempt to engage the suspect. Call police and note as many details as possible to assist in identifying the suspect.
